Know your Body

Learning to know your body is so important. The hard thing is sometimes we are so busy we do not realize when our bodies are changing or things get a little off. I knew there was a time that I felt like I was always tired. At the time I just thought that I was working too much or not getting enough sleep.

July of 2018 Paul and I went to Texas for a friends wedding. We planned on staying Friday-Tuesday. We arrived Friday and we spent the evening hanging out and catching up with them before their big day. Saturday came and I felt fine. I had to go to the bathroom a little more than normal but since I was in Texas in July I just thought it was because I was drinking more water than usual. We did little shopping, hung out by the pool before we had to get ready for the wedding. We had so much fun. Sunday Came and we just hung out at the pool in the afternoon, then went and had some delicious sushi....again I felt good. Monday morning we woke up and I just remember being so cold and not able to warm up. Paul had meetings that day. I thought I was gonna tag along with him so I could go shopping while he was in his meeting. I decided to stay at the hotel and work in the room, which was perfect because I was so cold I was able to grab my laptop, a cup of hot tea and lay in bed where it was warm. I think I took about 6 hot showers that day just to warm up. Paul got back that evening and we decided to go have dinner.

That did not work out well, I was so cold we had to end up getting our food to go.

Tuesday morning, that is when things took a complete turn. Paul woke me up that morning and told me I needed some medicine cause I was so hot he knew that I had a fever. We had planned to go his dentist appointment and then head home. Things did not go as planned. He went to go get me medicine and waited for my fever to go down before he went to his appointment. Paul left round 9 am and next thing I knew it was 2:30 pm and he was waking me up. My fever was back. I am not sure how I was but all I know is I scared Paul enough to call our doctor to see what he should do because we were supposed to head home. We did not make it home, we ended up in the ER.

After some testing they found I had a sever kidney infection and they believed I was sepsis. Not only that but they found a large fibroid in my uterus. Within minutes I had an IV injected and I was given paid meds and antibiotics. They also told us that I had to stay over night to ensure I had plenty of antibiotics to get me comfortable for the drive home.

Wednesday I was released from the hospital and we headed home. I slept the entire trip home and we went straight to out doctor's office. I was there for about 5 minutes after they took my blood and vitals and sent me right back to the hospital. I was sepsis, and I was very sick. After 5 days in the hospital I was able to go home. I now am better and I feel Great. In September I had the fibroid removed which put me out of work for 3 weeks and took a total of 6 weeks to heal. But holy cow do I feel amazing. People seriously, talk to your doctor when you are feeling off. That off feeling could be something more serious brewing in your body.
